Position Overview

Shearer's is a leading contract manufacturer and private label supplier in the snack industry in North America. Headquartered in Massillon, Ohio, the company operates 17 state-of-the-art facilities across North America.

Supply Chain Supervisor – Day Shift

The Supply Chain Supervisor assists in directing and coordinating inventory and raw material storage. This role is responsible for hiring, training, coaching, developing, and mentoring departmental personnel including Purchasing Agents, Inventory Control, and Plant Production Planners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepares or directs preparation of safety literature, signage, and protocols within the department.
  • Ensures that behaviors, practices, and the work environment support a safe workplace by enforcing safety rules and principles.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates inventory and raw material storage operations.
  • Ensures and monitors receiving, storing, inventory, purchasing, planning, and distributing efficiency.
  • Uses metrics/data to evaluate and improve inventory, purchasing, and scheduling processes.
  • Collaborates with departmental leaders to plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet performance standards.
  • Uses standard work processes to ensure repeatable performance.
  • Monitors inventory levels to ensure consistency with company standards.
  • Oversees the review of Material Usage Variance and collaborates with the Leadership team to reduce loss, increase yield, and meet site budget.
  • Provides and supports team members with personal development plans.
  • Leads the warehouse team with an emphasis on both process and people.
  • Communicates effectively with team members through both oral and written means.
  • Coaches area leaders daily in effective purchasing, inventory, and planning processes.
  • Provides timely feedback on individual performance standards.
  • Delivers training to ensure all team members are adequately trained and engaged in developmental activities.
  • Tracks team members’ work performance and attendance to ensure performance metrics are met.
  • Manages outbound shuttle movements and warehouse palletizing operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in a warehouse supervision role, preferably in the food processing industry.
  • Knowledge of principles involved in inventory and purchasing operations.
  • Knowledge of basic and advanced methods of training and coaching individuals and groups.
  • Knowledge of techniques for maximizing the distribution of goods.
  • Strong interpersonal, decision-making, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work within an integrated operating enterprise and manage team members in executing complex programs.
  • Willingness and ability to work a variable schedule.
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities consistent with the essential duties and responsibilities.
