We are seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented test engineer who will be responsible for maintaining and developing test processes of aerospace products for the Stratoflex Products Division. This role is a hands-on position requiring an individual who is self-motivated with proper engineering principles for problem solving and design, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and integration as they relate to a testing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborates in a team environment to develop and maintain test benches for testing aerospace hose, tubes, fittings, quick disconnects, swivels, etc.
- Effectively troubleshoots issues with hydraulic and/or pneumatic testing equipment by applying basic engineering principles and established analytical tools, including reviewing hydraulic and electrical schematics to identify sources of issues and implement safe corrections.
- Constructs, revises, and routes technical documents and test procedures, and reviews test reports and data for accuracy and completeness.
- Conducts internal audits of the engineering lab to ensure compliance with ISO 17025 specifications by reviewing documents, testing processes, and technician evaluations.
- Manages and supports outside testing efforts by working with external labs and internal engineering teams, with occasional short-term travel as required.
- Applies knowledge of Data Acquisition (DAQ) systems, sensors, and PLC/HMI interfaces to prototype new testing capabilities, analyze process values, and maintain existing test systems.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, engaging with engineering literature, and participating in professional associations.
- Supports cross-functional and project team assignments as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar engineering technical discipline. This is a professional entry-level position which may include limited prior industry experience or relevant student internship programs.
- Fundamental knowledge of engineering principles, concepts, and techniques.
- Experience with software development using IDEs/programming languages such as LabVIEW (preferred), Allen Bradley, and/or similar PLC or dataflow programming.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical drawings, procedures, and reports, and to present findings clearly in both formal and informal settings.
- Proficiency in basic engineering design and analysis tools, including computer-aided design programs for custom fabrication of test adapters, manifolds, etc.
- Experience with the integration of electrical components such as sensors, data acquisition (DAQ) systems, and relays, with an understanding of standard electrical wiring practices.
- Strong communication skills to effectively report technical task status and findings, with familiarity in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision, prioritize effectively, and exercise sound judgment when selecting procedures and techniques.
