Job Description

Position Overview

The Engineering Associate position holds the responsibility for the safe, reliable, and economic round‐the‐clock operation of generation, electric transmission, and distribution systems. This role involves engineering duties related to the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of power plants, transmission lines, substations, distribution systems, gas systems, and control centers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilizes established procedures and processes to perform assigned tasks under direct supervision
  • Minimal financial responsibility
  • Assists with the development and implementation of internal work processes
  • Gathers information for both internal and external customers
  • Attends seminars and continuing education opportunities for professional development
  • Performs other project and process improvement initiatives as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of fundamental engineering concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Ability to work in a team environment and coordinate with various departments to complete tasks and projects
  • Effective interpersonal and written communication skills at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to perform multiple activities with minimal supervision and effectively prioritize workload
  • Demonstrated initiative to identify needs and research solutions independently
  • Availability for call duty and occasional unscheduled work evenings, weekends, or holidays (post experience level)
  • Ability to travel occasionally for off-site work, seminars, or manufacturing plant inspections
  • Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer License in the State of Texas
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Package (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, email, and scheduling)
  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering field from an ABET accredited four-year college or university

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer In Training (EIT) designation from the Texas Board of Professional Engineers
  • Basic experience with electric distribution or transmission systems
  • Technical writing experience or relevant college coursework in technical writing
  • Experience with Computer Aided-Drafting systems and Bentley Microstation software
  • Familiarity with ESRI GIS software and Arc FM Designer software
  • Experience with SAP and Work Manager software
