Position Overview
Join one of the nation’s most comprehensive academic medical centers, University of Chicago Medicine, as a Practice Manager for our ENT, Plastics, & Adult Allergy Clinics at the DCAM – Hyde Park location. In this thought-driven role, you will have direct onsite management of daily operations, partnering with key leaders across UCM and BSD departments to drive excellence in ambulatory care, process improvement, and patient satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of the ambulatory practice at DCAM.
- Establish staff schedules, daily assignments, and monitor time, attendance, and overtime.
- Oversee practice-specific issues including IS, facilities, EVS, and supplies.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies (i.e. JCAHO, IDPH, CAP/CLIA) and manage service recovery.
- Collaborate with providers, scheduling groups, and key internal partners to optimize patient throughput and performance metrics.
- Monitor the operating budget for labor and non-labor expenses and oversee revenue cycle services including charge entry and dispute resolution.
- Lead performance management including evaluations and mentoring of team members.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare related field.
- 5+ years of experience in healthcare and customer service, ideally with oversight of an ambulatory practice.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to manage large, complex organizations.
- Proven success working with physician leaders in an academic medical center environment.
- Strong capability in mentoring and leading high-quality teams.
- Demonstrated ability to use data for performance improvement along with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with LEAN for performance improvement is desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a healthcare related field.
- Six Sigma Certification.
- LEAN Certification.
