Position Overview

Haymarket Center is seeking a Detox Nurse-West Loop to deliver compassionate care to patients undergoing drug rehabilitation at our West Loop location. Key Responsibilities

  • Work under direct supervision using Policies and Procedures and nursing judgment.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner in compliance with unit and facility policies.
  • Collaborate with the Nurse Supervisor to provide direct nursing care per physician orders, care plans, or established protocols.
  • Assess patients, make observations, and report pertinent information to appropriate staff.
  • Conduct initial health screenings and assess clients’ medical needs.
  • Chart vital signs, treatments performed, and medications administered while maintaining accurate records.
  • Implement patient care plans and evaluate responses to care.
  • Monitor clients self-administering medications and their reactions.
  • Direct and supervise medical care given by other staff members when necessary.
  • Maintain knowledge of documentation requirements and ensure confidentiality of protected patient information in accordance with legal and licensure standards.
  • Provide education to patients, their families, or caregivers.
  • Work rotating shifts, including holidays and weekends as scheduled.
  • Initiate emergency support measures (e.g., CPR) and protect patients from injury.
  • Participate in identifying staff educational needs and serve as a preceptor for new team members as delegated.
  • Maintain patient care supplies, unit equipment, and a safe program environment.
  • Contribute to the development of unit objectives and assist in formulating and evaluating standards of care.

Required Qualifications

  • Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse/RN in the State of Illinois.
  • Demonstrated ability to act with integrity and professionalism when working with a challenging population experiencing acute withdrawal and mental health issues.
  • Ability to work effectively with patients, staff, and support services.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
  • Capable of making independent decisions when necessary.
  • Skilled in accurately relaying information regarding patients’ medical and psychosocial conditions.
  • Good general health with the ability to move throughout the work day.
  • Physically able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 50 pounds.
