Job Description

Position Overview

Emory Healthcare is a comprehensive academic health system where your contributions matter as much as the work you do. We are seeking a Patient Care Technician for Emory Midtown Winship Hospital. In this role, you will be a skilled, certified technician responsible for delivering quality patient care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN. This is a full-time position (36 hours; shift from 7am to 7:30pm) that offers opportunities for professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN, including cleaning patient rooms, operating clinical equipment, assisting with emergencies and patient procedures, and transporting specimens.
  • Maintains hospital and unit-specific competencies.
  • Assists in emergency situations as directed by an RN/LPN.
  • Ensures that prescribed measures related to hygiene, comfort, and rest are provided.
  • Adheres to Standard Precautions, Infection Control procedures, and safety standards to promote a clean and healthy work environment.
  • Assists in the use of bag-valve-mask devices, anti-embolism and pneumatic compression stockings, oxygen, suction equipment, incentive spirometers, emergency carts, and bedside glucose monitors.
  • Operates equipment such as converter chairs, lifts, scales, beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, non-invasive BP monitors, automatic thermometers, sphygmomanometers, and pulse oximeters.

Required Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • Must meet one of the following criteria:
    • One year of direct patient care experience
    • Successful completion of a nursing assistant training course
    • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license through the State of Georgia
    • Current enrollment in a nursing program and completion of 2 clinical rotations
