Position Overview
New York City Ballet, one of the foremost dance companies in the world, is renowned for its athletic, contemporary style and rich history established by George Balanchine and Lincoln Kirstein. The Manager, E-Commerce and Digital Content is an integral member of the fast-paced Marketing & Media digital team, supporting digital initiatives across New York City Ballet and the David H Koch Theater. This role collaborates with multiple departments to create compelling digital consumer experiences for the company’s content-rich websites.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage content development for two CMS-driven websites (nycballet.com and davidhkochtheater.com) with integrated e-commerce systems to ensure consumer-centric experiences.
- Collaborate with Marketing, IT, and Box Office teams for season build-outs, including ticket on-sales preparations and quality assurance.
- Assist in managing secondary sites that sell NYCB and DHKT tickets.
- Act as the main contact for internal clients, DHKT renters, and digital marketing teams to gather and publish content across multiple CMS platforms.
- Coordinate with internal and external teams to schedule and publish content on DHKT lobby monitors for timely promotional updates.
- Work with stakeholders to define requirements and document specifications for all digital projects.
- Project manage external vendors for platform builds, upgrades, and feature enhancements.
- Identify, track, and resolve website bugs while ensuring pages adhere to accessibility, SEO best practices, and style guides.
- Utilize tools such as Google Analytics 4, Google Looker Studio, and Google Search Console to report and monitor website performance.
- Maintain digital content style guides and organized archives for future reference.
- Manage virtual waiting rooms, proxy email accounts, and supervise team coordinators and interns.
- Provide technical support and customer service in coordination with the Call Center for transactional issues.
- Stay updated on email deployment platforms, list management, and the Tessitura software system.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years’ experience in developing or managing content for websites and applications, with proficiency in HTML and CSS.
- Strong knowledge of CMS applications and project management tools (e.g., Airtable, Trello, Freshdesk) along with expertise in Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, Google Search Console, and Swiftype.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and REST API website integrations (Tessitura preferred).
- Experience working with external web developers to build, launch, and migrate digital properties including UAT processes.
- Understanding of cross-browser/platform issues and code solutions with a working knowledge of website metric analytics.
- Excellent project and workflow management, problem-solving, analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with capacity to communicate technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Full-time, salaried position with occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
- A keen interest in the arts, culture, or ballet, and familiarity with New York City Ballet is a plus.
