Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Automation Technician to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing automated systems and machinery to ensure efficient production processes. This role requires a strong background in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, and automation technologies, with a focus on delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Install, calibrate, and maintain programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, vision inspection systems, and distributed control systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues using schematics, calibration tools, precision measuring instruments, ohmmeters, and other diagnostic equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance on hydraulic, pneumatic, and high-voltage systems to minimize downtime.
- Interpret technical drawings and schematics for system repairs and upgrades utilizing AutoCAD and other engineering software.
- Conduct field service activities including troubleshooting on-site equipment and providing technical support to production staff.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards related to high voltage, low voltage, and industrial electrician practices.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve system performance and implement new automation solutions such as CNC machines or vision inspection systems.
- Document maintenance activities and system modifications accurately for future reference.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing operational issues promptly and efficiently.
Experience
- Proven experience in industrial maintenance or automation roles within manufacturing environments.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics, mechanical systems, sensors, calibration techniques, and schematics interpretation.
- Hands-on experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), and SCADA software such as Calypso.
- Electrical experience including low voltage, high voltage wiring, and troubleshooting electrical circuits.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD for schematic reading and modifications.
- Experience working with vision inspection systems or CNC machinery is preferred.
- Background in industrial electrician work or military technical training is a plus.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in field service settings while maintaining safety standards.
