The Store Manager is responsible for all facets of store operations and directly influences the performance of everyone who interacts with guests. Using elements of GameStop's buy, sell, trade, and reservation business model – the Circle of Life – the Store Manager develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest, providing outstanding guest service experiences through professional conduct and a shared passion for gaming, and supporting the overall store environment to meet and exceed sales and profit targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and lead in a multiunit capacity.
- Provide and model best-in-class guest service by greeting guests promptly, responding to questions or concerns quickly and courteously, assisting guests with their gaming needs, informing them of special promotions, recommending additional items when appropriate, and thanking every guest for shopping at GameStop.
- Support the total shopping environment including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationship building that drives repeat business.
- Promptly and accurately process guest purchases and return transactions using the Point-of-Sale (POS) system, ensuring proper change, receipt issuance, and overall top-notch guest service.
- Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone, answering calls in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner.
- Promote GameStop's unique guest benefits, including the new title reservations program, trade-in program, and Pro Rewards guest loyalty program.
- Recruit, interview, hire, assess, develop, and retain high-performing associates.
- Ensure associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training prior to independently opening or closing a shift.
- Communicate regularly with store associates and District Manager to implement GameStop store initiatives, set guest service expectations, and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Oversee scheduling of store associates, ensuring compliance with guidelines and proper allocation of breaks and meals.
- Approve payroll, manage paid time off entries, make time edits, and verify that store associates are paid for all time worked.
- Provide timely recognition and feedback to associates regarding performance, including regular written feedback via HR systems.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and organized store environment in alignment with company guidelines including the upkeep of restrooms and fixtures.
- Oversee daily fulfillment and shipping of Omni-Channel orders.
- Conduct store inventory counts, restock merchandise, and ensure products are organized and displayed properly on the sales floor.
- Implement effective inventory control and loss prevention practices, including scam awareness and safety protocols.
- Guide the store team to meet and exceed sales, profit, and shrink goals while completing all required administrative and operational duties.
- Count, balance, and reconcile daily business transaction totals accurately in the POS system; ensure all related documentation is complete.
- Verify shipments for discrepancies, record any issues, and communicate them to the District Manager.
- Process defectives, recalls, and stock pulls promptly and accurately, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
- Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety by promptly addressing any hazardous situations and reporting injuries as per company guidelines.
- Keep store records and files organized and up to date, ensuring that all manuals reflect current practices.
- For stores located on military bases, form professional partnerships with designated military personnel, including the Supply Base Leader.
- Consistently adhere to GameStop policies and procedures, including those outlined in the Associate Handbook and the Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
Required Qualifications
- Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 1 year of retail management experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or accredited bachelor's degree with an emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or a related field is preferred.
- At least 3 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management/leadership experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge is preferred.
Benefits & Perks
- Compensation: $19.00 - $27.00
- Benefits: Full-time store positions at GameStop are eligible to participate in incentive programs, 401(k), paid time off, dental, vision, and health insurance. Positions may also be eligible for a bonus and/or other incentives.
