Position Overview
Are you a recent graduate or early-career engineer passionate about shaping the future of transportation infrastructure? Join our dynamic team as an Entry-Level Structural Engineer at EMCS, Inc. and begin your journey designing and detailing bridges and infrastructure projects across the Midwest. EMCS, Inc. – providing a wide range of civil engineering services since 1983 with offices in Milwaukee, Wausau, Madison, Indianapolis, and Bergland – offers you the opportunity to gain hands-on experience alongside seasoned professionals on impactful projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete the design calculations and plan preparation for new bridges, bridge rehabilitation, and retaining wall projects in alignment with applicable design standards and specifications
- Perform in-person site visits and inspections of existing bridges and culverts, and prepare and submit required reports
- Develop initial concepts and perform bridge sizing for proposed structures
- Conduct quantity computations, cost estimates, and prepare special provisions for structures projects
- Complete bridge load ratings
Required Qualifications
- BS or MS in Civil/Structural Engineering
- Previous internship experience in civil/structural engineering
- Strong interest in structural engineering and transportation infrastructure
- Familiarity with design standards and specifications (AASHTO, DOT guidelines) is a plus
- Basic knowledge of structural analysis and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar)
- Proficiency with MS Office
- EIT registration is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Valid driver’s license
