Responsibilities of an OSP BIC Engineer
Responsibilities of an OSP BIC Engineer (Building Industry Consultant) include design of buried, underground and aerial copper and fiber cable systems and associated plant on Customer Property. This includes taking accurate and detailed field notes, drafting, and validating. Candidates must be familiar with OSP Engineering standards, practices, and construction methods.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Be able to read and interpret construction drawings.
- Be well organized and be able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Possess interpersonal skills to be able to meet with customers and perform site surveys, accurately capture field data on customer (private) property and determine building entrance facilities. This includes correctly identifying field conditions that will have an impact on Outside Plant Design.
- Must be able to develop an understanding of, and comply with, all the client’s requirements and practices for design standards for BIC engineering.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision, be self-motivated, and highly detail oriented.
- Communicate clearly and in a positive manner, both internally to RTS, and externally with the customer and client.
- Be able to perform self-check and quality assure your own work for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with the client’s standards.
- Be able to work closely with other engineers and customers to ensure quality and timely project completion.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Be able to access and interact with client systems specific to supporting AT&T in the Southeast, such as WALDO, FIELD STUDIO, etc. Need to have familiarity with ARAMIS.
- Accurately relay field conditions via paper drawings, electronic devices, photographs, or other formats specified, back to the customer, project manager and/or client.
- Accurately record the data and measurements using the standards and symbols required by the client to relate the existing field conditions.
- Job will require use of your personal vehicle and personal cell phone. Phone and vehicle mileage reimbursements to be administered per RTS HR Rules. RTS will provide the specialized equipment necessary to complete the required tasks, such as height stick, measuring wheel, 2/16 tool, etc.
- Be able to understand and apply accurate billing standards to work performed.
- Adhere to RTS Associates company policies and administer as appropriate.
Pay:
Pay: $50,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year
