Entry-Level Project Transportation Engineer

Position Overview

The ideal candidate will assist the Project Manager and team with project documentation and control, job cost accounting, scheduling, and construction supervision efforts. Key Responsibilities

• Manage field operations, staff, subcontractors, and on-site personnel.
• Conduct site visits, scheduling, submittals, daily reports, and as-builts.
• Oversee layouts and control points.
• Perform quality control, inspections, and materials testing inspections.
• Ensure on-site efficiency and safety while implementing a safety program.
• Estimate costs and prepare contracts.
• Meet with clients and subcontractors.
• Monitor expenditures and draft progress reports.
• Mitigate risk, ensure compliance, and evaluate environmental impact.
• Keep project information up to date in Procore by managing RFIs, RFPs, Bulletins, drawings, job set-up specifications, and documents.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Project Engineer (minimum 3 months).
• In-depth knowledge of construction processes, materials, and equipment.
• Familiarity with construction management software (ProCore, Prolog, Bluebeam, or Primavera) and Microsoft Office programs.
• Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and safety protocols.
• Willingness to travel up to 75% throughout Colorado.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and a “take ownership” attitude.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (or equivalent work experience).
• At least 3 months of experience in transportation, concrete, or heavy civil construction, including internships in related fields.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and collaborate with team members, clients, and subcontractors.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with construction management software such as PROCORE and Bluebeam is a plus.
• Prior construction experience in Roadway, Highway, or Heavy Civil projects.
