You are a P.E. with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and 10+ years of hands‑on manufacturing and production experience.

You have a comprehensive understanding of plant and/or process engineering, machine guarding, and hardcore industrial safety experience.

You are already an expert. Robson Forensic will train you to be a forensic expert.

As a Mechanical Engineer – Industrial/Manufacturing Expert, you will:

  • Investigate incidents involving equipment, safety products/procedures, material handling, hand tools, & plant layouts.
  • Analyze inadequacies in machine guarding, instructions, warnings, or personal protective equipment (PPE), etc., applying your comprehensive knowledge of standards and practices.
  • Write clear, scientifically sound reports.
  • Provide expert testimony.

You will delve into the "why" behind incidents, critically assessing decision‑making, operational procedures, and the standard of care. This role offers you a chance to:

Requirements

Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or can obtain licensure in at least one state within 6 months.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering and/or a closely‑related field.

Experience: 10+ years of manufacturing and production experience, including design, installation, start‑up, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting spanning a variety of industrial equipment; expertise must include design or specification of industrial equipment, material handling equipment (such as forklifts, aerial lifts, and cranes), industrial facility operation and maintenance processes, utility systems (steam, water, air, gas, etc.), and manufacturing processes.

Additional Experience a Plus

Your experience and training in reliability‑centered maintenance (RCM), failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA), root cause failure analysis, site incident investigations, and hazard analysis/risk assessments is desirable.

Skills

Excellent technical, analytical, writing, and communication skills; ability to manage a portfolio of 40‑60 projects/clients.

Aptitude

Strong ability to translate complex technical findings into clear, objective evidence for non‑technical audiences.

Work Style

Approximately 20% travel for inspections; the remainder is focused on analysis and report drafting, working independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Prior forensic experience is not required. We seek professionals eager to apply their deep industry knowledge to a challenging new domain.

Additional Requirements

You must have a clean background screen, a driver’s license, and the ability to drive.
