Job Description
Position Overview
The Manager, Environmental Services is responsible for the effective leadership of Environmental Services activities at Rush University Medical Center. This role oversees client/customer relations, patient satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and quality standards. The Manager also serves as a strategic planning partner to the Director and collaborates on system improvements across departments.
Location: Chicago, Illinois | Work Type: Full Time (FTE between 0.9 and 1.0) | Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM | Compensation: $29.36 - $47.79 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and promote associates' compliance with universal and disease‐specific precautions, including adherence to the OSHA blood borne pathogen standard and other federal/state regulations.
- Collaborate with the Director, EVS on process and performance improvement initiatives.
- Develop and execute strategic planning for the assigned entity while identifying opportunities for cross-area implementations with fellow EVS Managers.
- Work with the Project Manager to monitor, track, and analyze trends influencing performance metrics.
- Oversee talent acquisition, workforce planning, and talent management activities including interviewing, selecting, orienting, training, developing, and terminating staff.
- Coordinate administrative responsibilities, including oversight of department support staff.
- Monitor and purchase supplies and equipment as needed, and manage vendor relations within the assigned entity.
- Drive quality improvements through effective problem identification, analysis, timely decision-making, and task completion.
- Establish and implement policies and procedures for departmental operations to ensure compliance.
- Evaluate subordinate performance by providing clear direction, recognizing achievements, and administering disciplinary actions as necessary.
- Interact daily with nursing and other support departments to ensure cohesive operations.
- Administer departmental training and orientation programs, and hold regular manager meetings with subordinates.
- Maintain a high level of efficiency and productivity for housekeeping, linen, inventory services, and perform related inspections and tasks.
- Ensure effective collaboration with department employees, Department Heads, hospital personnel, and the public to uphold superior service quality.
- Guarantee that public areas are sanitized to project a strong, positive image and comply with infection control and sanitation standards.
- Assist in tracking and monitoring departmental budgets, project budgets, and expenditures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management or a related discipline OR five (5) years of professional operations management experience.
- Two (2) years of experience in team/personnel oversight.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management or a related discipline.
