Location: Philadelphia Metro / South NJ Region (preferred)
Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Compensation: $70,000 – $80,000 annually + Relocation Stipend (if applicable) + Bonus | 401(k) Match | Travel & Expense Reimbursement
Travel
This is a heavy travel position where the ideal candidate will start in Ashburn, VA for the first 6 months then relocate to either or NJ or PA location. Travel can be up to 75% to job sites and the remainder 25% would be day to day site visits.

The Opportunity
We’re seeking a Lead Control Systems Technician to support field implementation, startup, troubleshooting, and maintenance of industrial control systems. This role requires strong electrical and HVAC fundamentals, hands-on control panel and instrumentation experience, and the ability to work independently in the field. You will also help guide junior technicians and coordinate tasks on-site.
What You’ll Do
- Support installation, startup, and commissioning of PLC-based control systems
- Perform loop checks, calibrations, and field wiring for instrumentation and control panels
- Troubleshoot controls, electrical systems, HVAC equipment interfaces, and automation issues
- Assist in the execution of FAT/HFAT testing and related documentation
- Interpret and work from P&IDs, equipment schedules, and wiring diagrams
- Perform routine system maintenance and generate service reports
- Coordinate and guide junior field staff or subcontractors as needed and set an example for safety on job sites
- Communicate proactively with project leads and customers
What You Bring
- Education: Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, HVAC/Electrical Technology, or equivalent experience
- Experience: 2–5+ years in controls, industrial electrical, or instrumentation environments
- Strong understanding of electrical/HVAC fundamentals and field installation practices
- Hands-on experience with PLC hardware, panel wiring, and I/O troubleshooting
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and electrical schematics
- Self-starter who communicates well and works effectively with minimal supervision
- Nice to Have: Exposure to Ignition, Wonderware, FactoryTalk, or similar HMI/SCADA platforms
- Valid driver’s license and proof of work authorization required
- Fit for duty at all times
