Job Description

Position Overview

As the Purchasing Specialist in the Supply Chain Department reporting to the Supply Chain Senior Manager, you will support purchasing, logistics, and inventory management to ensure efficient business operations and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create request for quotation (RFQ) and meet with vendors to select based on price, service, and production needs.
  • Control ordering of materials, monitor inventory levels, and coordinate with vendors to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Process purchase requisitions from internal departments ensuring proper approvals.
  • Liaise with freight forwarders and domestic/international suppliers to track shipment statuses.
  • Identify and communicate issues with material supply and collaborate with internal teams.
  • Address damaged shipments by coordinating with suppliers, insurance companies, and field inspectors.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and analyze vendor performance to meet quality and delivery standards.
  • Manage and maintain Material Requirement Planning (MRP) data and investigate abnormal material usage.
  • Assess production schedules to balance material orders with production requirements.
  • Participate in weekly planning and purchasing conference calls.
  • Perform new material cost evaluations for management review.
  • Undertake additional tasks during staff absences and support ISO 9001 activities.
  • Adhere to environmental, health, and safety rules and uphold the highest ethical standards in compliance with the Canadian Solar Solution Code of Business Conduct.
  • Conduct any other duties as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in procurement or a related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with close attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments and key external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent time and project management skills.
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office, enterprise ERP systems, and email.
  • Experience with SAP is an asset.
