Environmental Engineer - Water Services - (2026 New Grads!)

Position Overview

CDM Smith is looking for an entry-level Environmental, Water Resources, or Civil Engineer to join our Water Services Group. In this role, recent graduates will have the opportunity to apply their engineering skills on innovative and sustainable water projects while growing within a dynamic team. You will support the design and implementation of water and wastewater treatment facilities, sewer systems, pipelines and associated infrastructure, ensuring that designs meet client specifications and comply with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the design and implementation of water/wastewater treatment facilities, sewer systems, pipelines, and related infrastructure
• Conduct site assessments, adjust design parameters, and perform water quality analyses and modeling
• Assist in technical report preparation, documentation, and client meeting presentations
• Create documents and presentations using tools like ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, CADD, Excel, and other software
• Participate in fieldwork supporting construction management activities

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline
• Entry-level (0 years) experience; equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
• Willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally based on project demands
• Basic knowledge of computer aided design (CADD) and 3D/4D software
• Understanding of engineering design principles and proficiency in Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
