Position Overview
Our client is offering a unique, fully remote Junior Cloud Security Analyst apprenticeship opportunity for aspiring cybersecurity professionals in Colorado Springs, Colorado, US. This apprenticeship is designed to provide comprehensive training and hands-on experience in protecting cloud infrastructure and data. As an apprentice, you will work closely with experienced security engineers, learning to implement and manage security controls, monitor for threats, and respond to security incidents within cloud environments. The duration is 12 months, with the potential for full-time employment upon successful completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the monitoring of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) for security threats and vulnerabilities.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of cloud security controls and policies.
- Help in responding to and investigating security incidents under the guidance of senior analysts.
- Participate in security awareness training development and delivery.
- Learn to configure and manage security tools such as SIEM, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
- Assist in conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
- Review and analyze security logs for suspicious activities.
- Contribute to the documentation of security procedures and incident response plans.
- Stay updated on emerging cloud security threats and best practices.
- Collaborate with IT and development teams to ensure security is integrated into cloud solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Recent graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Strong foundational knowledge of networking concepts, operating systems, and general IT security principles.
- Familiarity with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
- Eagerness to learn and develop skills in cloud security and cybersecurity.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
- Basic scripting skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell) are advantageous but not required.
- A passion for cybersecurity and a desire to pursue a career in the field.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the US and currently residing in the US.
