Job Description

Position Overview

The Marketing and Communications Manager will deliver critical storytelling that improves organizational sustainability and supports significant growth in fundraising, mission impact, and program outreach – all of which will allow the organization to inspire more people to act on behalf of the YWCA. The ideal candidate understands the "big picture" of communications for a social justice organization and is responsible for planning how digital messaging, public relations, and traditional communications are shared with various audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • In cooperation with the Senior Director of Marketing and Development, plan, manage and set the strategic direction of YWCA Tulsa’s marketing and communications for Programs, Fundraising and Community Support, and organizational goals in support of the mission.
  • Devise and implement the strategy, messaging, and tools needed to build the brand and increase the visibility of the organization.
  • Develop and maintain a communications calendar that enables a steady cadence for proactive storytelling to multiple audiences.
  • Collaborate with the Development Team to support fundraising campaigns and initiatives by creating dynamic and engaging content to build donor loyalty, convey program goals, and engage diverse audiences.
  • Build multi-channel communications programs leveraging both external and internal platforms, including press releases, social media platforms, email, and print materials.
  • Lead news releases and all media relations.
  • Manage press conferences and press coverage at all organization events.
  • Design and create all content for the YWCA Tulsa website, social media channels, and print materials.
  • Develop and implement digital marketing strategies to drive engagement through search engine optimization (SEO), email marketing, and web content.
  • Foster a cohesive organizational look, feel, and tone across campaigns, overseeing production of marketing materials and ensuring consistency in design standards.
  • Prepare a quarterly report for the Board of Directors and Senior Leadership reviewing Marketing and Communications goals and KPIs.
  • Build a library of YWCA Tulsa photo and video content that showcases programs, clients, and staff.
  • Collect and collate client success and organizational stories highlighting the social justice work and impact.
  • Purchase and design all YWCA branded materials for promotional purposes.
  • Manage the external events calendar and track all branded materials and signage for events.
  • Document all internal and external events using photos and video or coordinate with program teams to capture them.
  • In partnership with the CEO and Facilities teams, ensure that all internal and external signage, photos, and artwork in YWCA’s physical spaces reflect the brand and are clear, welcoming, and inclusive.
  • Use a data-driven approach to inform ongoing strategy and maximize the impact of communications initiatives with continuous reporting on metrics.
  • Continually review and update communications policies, procedures, and best practices while staying current with trends and technological advances.
  • Supervise part-time direct report and freelance resources, working closely with other organizational members.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent creativity, writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experienced photographer/videographer adept at using visual mediums for storytelling.
  • Strong writer and creative storyteller with extensive experience managing integrated communications initiatives in a collaborative, project-driven environment.
  • Exceptional relationship management skills with the ability to build and maintain trust with key stakeholders and deliver high-impact, multi-channel campaigns.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects decisively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working across digital media including internet, intranet, video, social media, mobile, direct mail, and print media.
  • Proficient design experience in Adobe Professional/Photoshop and Canva applications.
  • Proven experience in supervising professional teams, including mentoring, advising, assigning, and evaluating work.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with an emphasis in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Communications, Public Relations, or Content Marketing required; content creation and production experience preferred.
