Position Overview

Direct Support Professional - Residential
ACLD is a leading not-for-profit agency that began in 1957 and now employs over 1200 staff across more than 70 program sites in Nassau and Suffolk counties. We assist children, teens and adults in reaching the highest level of independence with the freedom to ASPIRE HIGHER. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a residential setting, helping adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities become self-sufficient and self-actualized.

Compensation: Salary ranges from $18.00 to $20.00 per hour. Some programs/locations may offer an additional differential.

Key Responsibilities

• Help residents achieve/exceed their personal goals
• Provide structure and emotional support
• Assist in resolving behavioral issues
• Help with personal hygiene needs
• Complete detailed, accurate documentation
• Transport program participants to and from medical appointments and recreational activities using Agency vehicles

Required Qualifications

• Clean, valid NYS Driver’s license
• High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with the intellectually and developmentally disabled population (training provided if needed)
• Prior experience as a Caregiver, Care Assistant, Personal Assistant, Resident Assistant, Direct Care Worker, Nursing Assistant, Home Care Aide, or Companion
• Willingness to assist with cooking and light housekeeping duties
