Job Description
Position Overview
The Director of Operations (Manufacturing) is responsible for overseeing the entire production process including planning production schedules, managing raw materials, staffing, budgeting, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance, and driving continuous process improvements in a 24/7 operation.
Salary: $145,000 - $175,000 DOE
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage production schedules, ensure sufficient raw materials, and monitor the entire production process to maintain efficiency and meet goals.
- Hire, train, and motivate plant employees, managers, and supervisors; conduct performance reviews and enforce established policies.
- Supervise production, warehouse, and maintenance managers in a 24/7 operation.
- Oversee training and development to build an effective workforce.
- Establish and enforce safety protocols, conduct routine safety checks, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Manage the plant's budget, track and approve expenses, and control operational costs to reduce waste and improve profitability.
- Monitor plant processes, analyze production data, and implement strategies to increase productivity.
- Develop action plans to address production issues identified through performance metrics.
- Collaborate with management on introducing new or modified products and processes, including equipment installations.
- Coordinate maintenance and repair activities to ensure optimal equipment condition and facility upkeep.
- Prepare operating reports, analyze performance metrics, and present findings to senior management.
- Ensure strict compliance with food safety regulations and best practices; prepare for regulatory and customer audits.
- Conduct regular meetings to update teams on operational changes, current issues, and new developments.
- Resolve customer issues promptly to maintain high service levels and support plant growth.
- Implement continual improvements in productivity standards in alignment with budgetary goals.
- Manage facility budgets and ensure maintenance practices meet safety standards and company objectives.
- Collaborate professionally with other departments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Related bachelor’s degree; MBA or Master’s Degree preferred.
- Experience Required: 10 years’ experience in manufacturing with 5 years in a leadership role.
- Requirements: Proven ability to manage production schedules, oversee budgeting, enforce safety and regulatory compliance, and drive process improvements.
- Qualifications: Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong analytical capabilities, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of lean management, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Demonstrated success in managing 24/7 manufacturing operations.
- Familiarity with FDA, OSHA, and other relevant regulatory standards.
- Exposure to food allergens, including wheat, nuts, coconut, and soy products.
