Job Description

Position Overview

The Mechanical Engineer I is responsible for the design, development, analysis and technical support of the AC and DC air-cooled and oil-cooled generators within the design-engineering department. This role encompasses all project phases, including proposals, development, testing, and production support. Job Location: Twinsburg, Ohio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design the individual parts and assemblies of a rotating machine to meet customer requirements and targeted performance, with support from a lead engineer or equivalent.
  • Develop CAD 3D models and 2D drawings; conduct analyses including tolerance stack-up, bearing load and pre-load calculations.
  • Ensure designs comply with SAFRAN and industry standards, including GD&T and design for manufacturing principles.
  • Act as a peer reviewer, participate in technical reviews (design, manufacturing, test, etc.), and suggest solutions to resolve issues or mitigate risks.
  • Follow the provided budget and schedule, and review customer specifications while supporting technical proposals, cost estimates, test procedures, specifications, BOMs, and schedules as needed.
  • Initiate actions to resolve problems for ongoing products or new product designs.
  • Communicate openly with peers and management regarding design progress, challenges, and risks to ensure early resolution.
  • Provide assistance and support for testing both new and legacy products under the guidance of a lead engineer.
  • Adhere to safe work practices and contribute to the evolution of health, safety, and environmental programs and culture.
  • Travel requirements: Occasional travel (approximately once per quarter) within the U.S. and internationally. Evening/night hours and extra hours may be required during business peaks.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Previous full-time, part-time, or co-op/internship engineering experience.
