Position Overview

Key Responsibilities
- Independently research and develop hypotheses based on diverse and unique real-world datasets.
- Conduct literature reviews to develop and apply cutting-edge methodologies for extracting meaningful signals from vast data holdings.
- Partner with engineers and business stakeholders to rigorously explore and test your theories.
- Remain engaged in the academic community:
- Join reading circles to stay up to date on the latest research papers in your fields.
- Attend academic seminars to learn from thought leaders from top universities.
- Internship details: The program lasts 10 weeks in the summer at our Soho-based, New York City office. You will partner with an assigned mentor and work on a single project culminating in a final presentation.
Required Qualifications
- Are pursuing a degree in a technical or quantitative discipline (e.g., chemistry, computer science, economics, statistics, or quantitative social science) with approximately one year remaining.
- Proficient in Python and SQL.
- Have performed an in-depth research project examining real-world data.
- Exhibit independent thinking with a creative approach to data analysis and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.
- Note: A background in finance is not required — more than half of Two Sigma’s employees come from outside the finance industry.

- Compensation:Weekly base pay between $3,800 (Bachelors), $3,900 (Masters), and $4,200 (PhD), with potential eligibility for other forms of compensation and benefits.
