Position Overview

At Raytheon, our mission is to help our nation and allies defend freedoms and deter aggression. As a Senior Platform DevOps Engineer, you will lead a transformative era in software engineering by integrating development and operations within a comprehensive cloud‐based platform. You will design, develop, implement, and integrate predominantly cloud-based compute, network, and storage infrastructures while modernizing the program platform through emerging technologies and DevOps/DevSecOps automation. This role, based onsite at the RTX Facility in Aurora, CO, involves both hands-on engineering and rigorous documentation, supporting one of our critical national assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support transitioning a system that is tightly coupled to the underlying infrastructure
  • Assist with architecture, design, development, integration, and support of build, integration & test, and deployment pipelines optimized for performance and scalability across cloud environments
  • Leverage company and industry best practices to improve scalability, consistency, and infrastructure efficiency while reducing deployment time through automation
  • Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and agile development teams to design and implement robust platform solutions
  • Integrate security and compliance into the platform with services such as encryption and access management
  • Provide operational support for the platform

Required Qualifications

  • BS/BA Degree in STEM (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or Physics) with a minimum of 5 years related work experience
  • Experience designing, implementing, and integrating cloud‐based systems on platforms such as AWS
  • Expertise with automation frameworks such as Terraform, Ansible, and Chef
  • Proficiency in programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, Ruby, Bash, C++, C#, Go)
  • Current TS/SCI with CI Poly security clearance is required on day one. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience deploying, configuring, and supporting CICD pipeline tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Artifactory, Gitlab)
  • Experience developing, testing, and delivering applications within a DevSecOps framework
  • Experience with RedHat Linux
  • Experience with additional automation frameworks and scanning tools (e.g., Nessus, Fortify, Anchore)
  • Background in infrastructure covering computers, networks, storage, and virtualization
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud
  • Proven troubleshooting skills on Linux‐based operating systems
  • Experience with COTS/FOSS product installation, configuration, and integration
  • Must meet DoD 8570 IAT level II requirements (Security+ CE or equivalent)
