Position Overview
Our client is a long-standing, privately held organization with deep roots in the Pacific Northwest. They manage significant natural resource assets with a strong focus on sustainability and long-term stewardship. Their close-knit and collaborative team operates from multiple locations including headquarters and regional offices. This is a permanent, direct hire position requiring regular, on-site work out of Seattle, Washington. The Regional Controller will be a key financial leader supporting operations across the Pacific Northwest by partnering with senior leadership to provide accurate financial reporting, oversee day-to-day accounting, and ensure compliance with internal and external requirements. The role offers a mix of hands-on accounting work and strategic business partnership.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all regional accounting and financial reporting functions, including general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close
- Prepare and review financial statements, variance analyses, and management reports for leadership
- Partner with operational managers to translate financial data into actionable insights, including cost analysis and forecasting
- Monitor cash flow and support treasury functions, particularly around seasonal cycles and capital planning
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal controls
- Lead and mentor accounting staff, fostering professional growth and development
- Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other stakeholders as needed
- Contribute to process improvements and potential system upgrades (ERP/financial tools) to increase efficiency and accuracy
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA strongly preferred
- 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role
- Strong technical accounting skills (GAAP, reconciliations, variance analysis, cash flow)
- Experience overseeing multi-entity or multi-location financial operations
- Proficiency in financial systems/ERPs and advanced Excel skills
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and serve as a trusted business partner
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
