Data Center Hardware Technician - Lockport, NY; on-site

Position Overview

Yahoo's Data Center Operations team is seeking a Data Center Hardware Technician in Lockport, NY (on-site). Location: Lockport, NY (on-site)
Compensation: $59,250.00 - $/yr range (varies based on location, skills, and experience)

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair servers and network equipment to ensure maximum uptime within the data center.
• Work on requests based on priorities set by the business.
• Perform troubleshooting with a specialty in a single discipline while possessing knowledge of many.
• Use in-house tools to install operating systems, create DNS records, configure switches, and perform other data center functions.
• Partner with engineering teams to execute change requests.
• Communicate directly with internal customer technical contacts.
• Support 24x7x365 operations, including overnight and swing shifts as required.

Required Qualifications

• Location: Looking for candidates in the Lockport/Buffalo Metro area
• Education: 2-year degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
• Qualifications: Knowledge of the UNIX/Linux operating environment with the ability to navigate and manipulate the file structure
• Qualifications: Basic understanding of TCP/IP network environment, including switching and routing protocols
• Qualifications: Familiarity with common scripting languages (Bash, Python, Perl, etc)
• Requirements: Ability to execute manual tasks, work on a ladder, and function in a higher-temperature environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Qualifications: Experience handling fiber physical plant
• Qualifications: Experience coding with common scripting languages (Bash, Python, Perl, etc)
• Qualifications: Demonstrated passion for the field with the drive to own and take responsibility for your work
