Position Overview
Stantec’s Buildings team is on a mission to become the world’s leading integrated design practice. As an Entry Level Mechanical Designer / Engineer-in-Training, you will work under the guidance of a Senior Engineer on tasks and smaller projects as part of a larger project team. You will participate in the evaluation, recommendation, and specification of engineered systems while ensuring compliance with codes and engineering standards. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize mechanical and plumbing components and systems under direction, ensuring adherence to engineering principles and industry standards.
- Interpret drawings, codes, and related documentation.
- Perform Revit design for the mechanical discipline using relevant software.
- Coordinate with architectural, interior, structural, electrical, and other engineering disciplines under senior guidance.
- Conduct field work as directed by a senior engineer/designer.
- Perform basic calculations to analyze and design building mechanical system components using company and manufacturer software.
- Assist with engineering tasks and data collection to support design decisions.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned by senior engineering staff.
Required Qualifications
- Thorough understanding of mechanical engineering concepts and the ability to effectively communicate ideas.
- Basic experience with Revit and AutoCAD as design/drafting tools.
- Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, and building programs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer-in-Training certification.
- Familiarity with various construction delivery processes (e.g., Design-Build).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- A proactive and inquisitive mindset with a willingness to learn and grow.
