Position Overview
Virta Health is on a mission to reverse metabolic disease in one billion people. Current treatment approaches aren’t working—over half of US adults have either type 2 diabetes or prediabetes, and obesity rates are at an all-time high. Virta is changing this through innovations in technology, personalized nutrition, and virtual care delivery. As a Lead Product Designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Virta’s user experience across both clinician and patient-facing products, with a primary focus on the internal software that empowers our care teams. You will collaborate with product managers and engineers to design intuitive systems and workflows that enhance clarity, efficiency, and impact while integrating thoughtful AI-powered experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the end-to-end design process, from research and concept development to execution and iteration.
- Drive clarity by distilling complex problems into simple, intuitive, and effective design solutions.
- Conduct user research to deeply understand user needs and behaviors.
- Lead end-to-end design for service products and the internal software used daily by clinicians and care teams.
- Develop user-centric designs that balance business goals, technical constraints, and best practices.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and care teams to define priorities and refine designs based on feedback and data.
- Facilitate co-creation workshops, ideation sessions, and design sprints to align stakeholders.
- Test and iterate designs rapidly using qualitative and quantitative insights.
- Advocate for design excellence across the organization by contributing to the design system and elevating UX/UI standards.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in Product Design with a portfolio showcasing clear problem-solving, structured thinking, and high-quality execution.
- Strong ownership and proactive leadership in ambiguous situations.
- Experience building care management systems, EHRs, clinical workflow engines, or other expert-user systems.
- Strategic mindset that balances business goals with user needs.
- Deep expertise in UX/UI design with strong process, service design thinking, and usability principles.
- Proficiency in Figma and a solid understanding of research methodologies.
- Excellent collaboration skills with engineers to ensure seamless execution and technical feasibility.
- Experience integrating AI-powered experiences to enhance user workflows.
- Background in healthcare delivery contexts working with providers, social workers, or coaches.
- Exceptional storytelling and communication skills to effectively influence stakeholders at all levels.
