Job Description

Position Overview

Planned Parenthood Arizona (PPAZ) is committed to providing comprehensive family planning and reproductive health care including birth control, contraceptive counseling, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, pregnancy-related services, HIV testing, abortion care, and medically accurate sexuality education across the state. The Health Care Assistant plays a vital role in both front and back office operations at Planned Parenthood Health Centers. This position requires flexibility, professionalism, and strict adherence to confidentiality and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform both front office and back office duties across Planned Parenthood Health Centers, with the understanding that assignments may change as needed.
  • Greet clients in a professional and friendly manner, instruct on paperwork completion, schedule appointments, and ensure accurate patient records are maintained in electronic medical records.
  • Manage incoming/outgoing mail, assist with prescription supply orders, and handle billing and cash management procedures under supervision.
  • Prepare exam rooms, maintain inventory and supplies, ensure proper instrument sterilization, and support laboratory testing (e.g., measuring vitals, veni-puncture) while adhering to OSHA and CLIA standards.
  • Educate patients on contraceptive methods, pregnancy options (including parenting, adoption, and abortion), and follow established protocols, while documenting all patient interactions.
  • Participate in quality improvement, risk management, and **EDI** initiatives by promoting a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and maintain strict compliance with HIPAA privacy and confidentiality standards.

  • Adept at problem-solving using good judgment and analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and recommend solutions.
  • Proficiency in HRIS, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel to various health centers and work flexible hours as required by operational needs.
