Job Description

Position Overview

The Industrial Controls Technician at F&S Fresh Foods is responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of electrical and control systems within the manufacturing facility. This role involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing various automated control systems with a strong emphasis on safety and compliance. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, utilizing their problem-solving skills and technical expertise to enhance system performance and support production operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical control systems, motors, drives, PLCs, HMIs, and sensors within the manufacturing facility.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot critical safety systems, including emergency stop circuits and safety relays.
  • Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems, performing routine diagnostics and updates as necessary.
  • Assist in the installation of new control systems and upgrading existing systems for improved efficiency and safety.
  • Collaborate with production teams and management to address production line issues and suggest process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in Electrical Engineering or Industrial Automation preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in electrical troubleshooting and controls maintenance, preferably in a food manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, control panels, motor controls, and instrumentation.
  • Hands-on experience with PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and other industrial control equipment.
  • Familiarity with safety systems, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and emergency shutdown systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with food processing equipment or within a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley, Siemens, or similar PLC platforms.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems and automation software.
