Position Overview

Freedom Forever LLC in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Solar Design Engineer. This role is responsible for creating and managing buildable solar designs that meet all municipal, utility, and financing requirements while incorporating sales preferences. Compensation is $65k - $71k plus bonuses and benefits.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce rooftop or ground-mount photovoltaic layouts using Aurora, BrightPath, and/or Everbright while considering external requirements and preferences.
• Identify factors affecting project scope, including cost, installation complexity, and feasibility.
• Create and maintain construction plans using AutoCAD and internal design tools compliant with municipal and utility requirements.
• Determine the optimal point of interconnection based on existing electrical infrastructure for ease of installation.
• Perform electrical load calculations to assess the feasibility of various electrical scopes of work.
• Manage a regional pipeline of construction engineering tasks including new projects, revisions, and ticket resolutions.
• Collaborate with Regional Branches to ensure smooth communication between Engineering and Field Operations.
• Perform other assigned duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional solar design experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD (or equivalent design tools).
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Solid understanding of roof-mount and ground-mount photovoltaic system design, electrical load calculations, and relevant electrical and structural concepts.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing projects from initial design through installation.
• Familiarity with permitting processes and local authority requirements.
