Position Title: Senior Program Associate, Forestry and Natural Resource Management
Location: VA Office, US Remote, or US Hybrid

Winrock International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering the disadvantaged, increasing economic opportunity, and sustaining natural resources. This role supports projects related to natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, and climate change – working closely with in-country teams to provide operational, administrative, and technical support. While primarily remote within the contiguous United States, employees are required to work on EST/CT.
Key Responsibilities
- Support home office management and administrative oversight of international projects, including contracts, cooperative agreements, and grants.
- Review monthly financial reports and wire requests and provide feedback to Program Manager, Senior Program Manager, and in-country staff.
- Ensure project activity documentation is complete, compliant with donor/client requirements, and properly filed on internal systems.
- Maintain and update project management trackers.
- Draft subawards and procurement documents as needed, routing them through Winrock’s approval process.
- Oversee and report on the work of subawardees and consultants, including technical and financial performance.
- Copyedit, format, and contribute to technical reports and deliverables.
- Track budgets, obligations, and subawards, flagging issues for in-country staff and home office management.
- Liaise with support units (procurement, finance, travel, contract/award management) to provide solutions and guidance.
- Travel to developing countries for training, oversight, monitoring, and relationship building.
- Support new business proposals by collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams from programs, new business, and cost and pricing units.
- Assist in organizing and facilitating internal and external meetings, taking minutes and ensuring follow-up on decisions.
- Manage and regulate the project filing system to ensure accuracy of auditable records.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in international development, environmental science, natural resource management, forestry, climate change, economics or a related field is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum two years of relevant experience in program coordination, administration, or logistical support. Experience working on USAID-funded programs is preferred.
- Skills: Excellent written and oral communication; strong organizational abilities; proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and other business technologies; the ability to work under pressure and as part of a team; a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset; and a commitment to ethical standards. Previous experience in a customer- or client-facing role is an asset.
- Language: Fluency in English (written and oral) is required; fluency in another language is desired.
- Travel: Must be willing and able to travel internationally on short trips (2-4 weeks) several times a year.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.

- Compensation: $62,000 – $64,000
