Development & Research Senior Engineering Specialist - Mining Technology

Position Overview

At Caterpillar Inc., your work shapes the world. Join as a Mining Technology Development & Research Senior Engineering Specialist within the Integrated Components and Solutions Division. In this role, you will lead the development and validation of mining technology products focused on automation and autonomy – including next generation solutions for Large Mining Truck models. Collaborating with global, cross‐functional teams, you will drive innovation, technical excellence, and customer engagement to bring new products to market and support existing production.

This full-time position is based in Tucson, AZ or Mossville, IL with up to 10% travel. Domestic relocation assistance is available.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and manage technical requirements, program execution, and delivery for mining technology products.
• Develop product functional requirements in collaboration with commercial teams and customers.
• Lead global, multi-divisional product development teams to ensure quality, safety, and compliance.
• Ensure technical solutions meet timelines, budgets, and market requirements.
• Represent Caterpillar in technical discussions and coordinate with cross-functional teams including NPI, supply chain, and product support.

Required Qualifications

• Extensive experience in product design, development, and technical team leadership.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
• Proven skills in planning, project management, and troubleshooting technical challenges.
• Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Caterpillar Command for Hualing or related autonomy systems.
• NPI process/leadership experience and familiarity with Caterpillar design practices.
• Background in software development for embedded systems and use of virtual product development tools.

• Compensation Range: $144,960.00 - $217,320.00
