Position Overview

Title: Information Technology Intern

Reports To:

Director of IT Services

Summary:

Assist in supporting the Information Technology Department. Applicants are accepted through March 24, 2025.

In this role, you'll be a key player ensuring the security and efficiency of our technology operations. You will gain direct, hands-on experience training end-users on industry-leading software and supporting network device preparation, hardware/software troubleshooting, and system upgrades, all while developing your networking and cybersecurity skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the annual end-user security best practices training
  • Provide entry-level Helpdesk support
  • Manage IT equipment inventory and asset database
  • Prepare network devices for deployment at construction job sites
  • Support installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end-user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices at Corporate HQ and job sites
  • Assist in equipment, hardware, and software upgrades
  • Support implementation of cybersecurity best practices and educate end-users on policies

Required Qualifications

  • Current student in an accredited university working towards a technical degree
  • Working technical knowledge of Microsoft and Office platforms
  • Understanding of TCP/IP routing/switching at Layer 2 and 3 and related protocols
  • Familiarity with general network architecture best practices and segmented networks (vlan tagging)
  • Knowledge of VPN protocols including IPsec and Wireguard
  • Understanding of Wi-Fi systems (authentication, connection debugging, roaming optimization, coverage estimation)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
  • Highly self-motivated with keen attention to detail and proven analytical problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment with a strong customer service orientation
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on hardware & troubleshooting experience
