Position Overview
Title: Information Technology Intern
Reports To:
Director of IT ServicesSummary:
Assist in supporting the Information Technology Department. Applicants are accepted through March 24, 2025.In this role, you'll be a key player ensuring the security and efficiency of our technology operations. You will gain direct, hands-on experience training end-users on industry-leading software and supporting network device preparation, hardware/software troubleshooting, and system upgrades, all while developing your networking and cybersecurity skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the annual end-user security best practices training
- Provide entry-level Helpdesk support
- Manage IT equipment inventory and asset database
- Prepare network devices for deployment at construction job sites
- Support installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end-user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices at Corporate HQ and job sites
- Assist in equipment, hardware, and software upgrades
- Support implementation of cybersecurity best practices and educate end-users on policies
Required Qualifications
- Current student in an accredited university working towards a technical degree
- Working technical knowledge of Microsoft and Office platforms
- Understanding of TCP/IP routing/switching at Layer 2 and 3 and related protocols
- Familiarity with general network architecture best practices and segmented networks (vlan tagging)
- Knowledge of VPN protocols including IPsec and Wireguard
- Understanding of Wi-Fi systems (authentication, connection debugging, roaming optimization, coverage estimation)
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
- Highly self-motivated with keen attention to detail and proven analytical problem-solving abilities
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment with a strong customer service orientation
- Physical ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on hardware & troubleshooting experience
