Job Description

Position Overview

Under the Director of Quality and Patient Safety, the Quality Data Analyst will conduct readmission data validation, analysis, and interpretation to drive improvements in all-cause and disease-specific readmission rates in alignment with Middlesex Health Quality Improvement and Patient Safety programmatic goals. Thisin officerole in the Quality department is a 28.00 hours per week position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designs and produces timely, meaningful, and accurate readmission data analysis and interpretation for all-cause and disease-specific datasets in support of organizational initiatives.
  • Utilizes EPIC reporting tools such as Cogito, Reporting Workbench, Slicer Dicer, as well as Power BI and CHIME Data to analyze quality metrics.
  • Conducts data validation to ensure that reported data is accurate and reliable, producing clear written analyses, graphs, and tables for diverse internal audiences.
  • Acts as co-chair of the Readmission Committee, demonstrating strong verbal and written communication skills and effective presentation abilities.
  • Oversees dissemination of reports and information to appropriate administrators, department heads, and staff.
  • Plans, organizes, and prioritizes assignments related to the organization’s initiatives, while meeting all timelines and notifying management of any issues.
  • Performs new and ongoing projects as assigned by the Director, ensuring the incorporation of patient safety principles in process design or redesign.
  • Acts as a resource, adviser, and team facilitator for quality improvement teams, providing QI education and consultation for hospital employees and medical staff.
  • Participates in surveys and utilizes available resources for problem solving, continuously educating self regarding health care quality.
  • May serve in a dual capacity as a backup to the Cipherhealth platform.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a healthcare-related field.
  • 2+ years of related healthcare data analytical experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in using EPIC Cogito, Reporting Workbench, and Slicer Dicer.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with root cause analysis and effective communication skills for interacting and presenting findings across organizational levels.
  • Ability to document processes and analyses for reference and reuse.
  • Excellent technical, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of claims, utilization, and ICD-10 codes is preferred.
  • Strong project management skills including stakeholder identification, planning, coordination, and timely execution.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, adapt to change management, and work resiliently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with quality and safety data analytics.
  • 3-5 years of progressive leadership or management experience.
  • Certification in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ or similar) or willingness to obtain certification.
