Telecommunications Technician-OCONUS Security Clearance

Position Overview

Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for a Telecommunications Technician-OCONUS with Security Clearance to support the installation of Telecommunication Structured Cabling Systems in Norfolk, Virginia.

Key Responsibilities

• Install Telecommunication Structured Cabling Systems
• Terminate cabling (CAT 5e, CAT 6, Fiber Optics, & Coaxial) in accordance with EIA/TIA standards
• Read and understand telecom blueprints
• Ensure proper grounding, adhere to safety standards, and follow NEC compliance

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of technical experience
• Proven technical experience with the installation of Telecommunication Cabling Systems
• Experience with telecom installation systems including Telecom Room Build-Out, fiber optic terminations (Unicam, Anarobic, & fusion splicing), and UTP/STP Category 6 copper terminations; familiarity with industry best practices (BICSI, Comm Scope, Belden, CPI, Corning, Panduit, etc)
• Qualified in the use of test equipment and preparation of site test data and documentation
• Experience performing maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and testing of telecom cabling (fiber, Category 6, multi-pair copper)
• US Citizen with a current Passport and valid Driver’s License
• Ability to work independently or with limited supervision
• Active DoD Top Secret clearance and eligibility to maintain such clearance
• Willingness to travel more than 95% (international/domestic coach travel) with extended hotel stays as required
• Physically capable of reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling up to 75% of the time, lifting up to 50 lbs, and performing repetitive tasks in various environmental conditions

Preferred Qualifications

• BISCI Technician or Installer Certification
• Manufacturer Installer Certifications (Comm Scope, Corning, Belden, etc)
• At least 2 years’ experience with the installation of Telecommunication Cabling Systems
