Position Overview
Profitwise Accounting, a national cloud accounting firm headquartered in San Diego, CA and celebrating 19 years of consecutive growth, is seeking a Remote Staff Accountant/Bookkeeper. In this vital role you will manage daily bookkeeping and accounting tasks for a diverse range of clients—including processing transactions, performing reconciliations (bank, credit card, e-commerce, etc.), month-end closes, client communications, and payroll—ensuring the delivery of accurate financial reports.Compensation:Full-time $45,000 - $55,000 or Part-time $22/hr - $27/hr.Work Location:Remote.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage client(s) automatic transaction imports, track income and expenses, and prepare detailed bookkeeping reports with supporting documentation.
- Prepare monthly work papers, reconcile bank, credit card, e-commerce, and merchant statements, and produce management reports.
- Provide legacy bookkeeping by updating QuickBooks Online/Desktop systems, closing prior year books, and ensuring current records are accurate.
- Process client payroll through QuickBooks payroll subscriptions or third-party services in accordance with payroll cycles.
- Manage vendors within QuickBooks by identifying potential 1099 candidates and maintaining up-to-date W9 information.
- Prepare and report sales tax using data from client sales platforms.
- Assemble comprehensive tax return preparation work papers following the highest industry standards.
- Record project time in practice management software to ensure accurate client billing.
- Complete assigned projects within budgeted time frames and provide backup support when needed.
- Analyze financial data, recommend solutions, and stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
- Interpret and apply accounting policies, rules, and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Communicate client or process issues with management and take on additional responsibilities as business needs evolve.
Required Qualifications
- QuickBooks Online experience (1+ years)(Required)
- Bookkeeping experience (1+ years)(Required)
- Experience in a Public Accounting Firm (1+ years)(Required)
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field, or equivalent work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- QuickBooks Pro Advisor certification(Preferred)
- Ability to multitask, work independently, and lead others
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Recent experience in public accounting with a critical attention to detail
- Strong software proficiency and proven remote work effectiveness
- Experience with E-commerce Accounting is a plus
