Position Overview
Requisition Number: 25605. HII-Mission Technologies is seeking a skilled Data Scientist/Engineer to design, develop, and implement a database architecture, tools, and techniques for managing and using extremely large data sets for our DoD customer's organization. This role will be performed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as part of Warfare Systems within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Applicants should note the Anticipated Salary Range: $99,336.00 - $132,500.00, Employment Type: Full Time/Salaried/Exempt, and a travel requirement of 0-10%. A Secret clearance is required at the start, with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate, determine, and implement suitable open-source tools for storage, management, and use of extremely large data sets.
- Investigate, determine, and implement tools and methodologies for extracting key data points for analysis by data analysts.
- Conduct data exploration, analysis, and feature extraction techniques to integrate into the DoD customer’s data pipelines and workflows.
- Collaborate as part of a team responsible for creating, maintaining, and augmenting an on-premises compute environment.
- Translate requirements into actionable capabilities for technical teams.
- Present status reports to key internal stakeholders.
- Evaluate new tools, technologies, and processes to improve the on-premises environment.
- Gain familiarity with the customer mission to identify and/or develop data management and workflow solutions.
- Propose solutions and strategies to unique challenges across the DoD customer’s organization.
- Manage Linux system configuration and capacity planning for large-scale data analytics on-premises and in the cloud.
- Perform additional duties as assigned or required.
Required Qualifications
- At least 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; or 3 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree.
- Experience defining requirements for using and maintaining open-source data analytics, data workflow, and database tools.
- Ability to develop, implement, and maintain data analytic protocols, standards, and documentation.
- Experience designing data models based on requirements for complex data analysis.
- Experience defining vendor requirements to implement solutions that meet the DoD customer’s organizational needs.
- Proficiency with multiple types of datasets and database technologies, including end-to-end data pipeline construction.
- Familiarity with cloud and on-premise database technologies, as well as data exploration, analysis, and visualization tools such as Python and Matlab.
- Strong knowledge of the Linux operating environment and open-source containerization technologies for database and analytics applications.
- Demonstrated ability to define internal process improvements to automate repetitive tasks and minimize downtime between analyses.
- Must have a Secret clearance at the start and be able to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance with enhanced security checks.
