The Project Engineer position is an entry level opening across the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic offices. In this role, the Entry Level Project Engineer will plan, direct, and coordinate activities for civil industrial or transportation projects to ensure project goals are met within time and funding parameters.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and understand plans and specifications.
- Follow administrative procedures as outlined in the Project Administration Manual.
- Possess field experience by inspecting construction sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction/safety standards.
- Utilize CPM scheduling programs; produce accurate schedules as needed.
- Supervise and coordinate submittal processes and working drawing requirements.
- Prepare or direct the preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, environmental impact studies, and designs as necessary.
- Analyze, prepare, and monitor job costs and production budgets.
- Execute and approve subcontractor requisitions and vendor invoices.
- Coordinate, price, and assist the Project Manager in settling change orders and claims.
- Manage time and organize office and filing systems to maintain accurate project correspondence.
- Consistently apply and enforce Safety Policy at all times.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree (B. S.) from a four-year college or university
- Experience Required: 0-2 years of experience in a related field
- Computer literate: proficient with spreadsheet and word processing programs, CPM scheduling programs (such as Primavera Project Planner), project management software, and Microsoft Office.
- Communicates in a clear and professional manner both verbally and in writing with team members and clients.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Strong mathematical skills, including fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
