Position Overview

Join our team as a Lab Technician at a reputed laboratory in Fresno, CA. Starting initially as a Sample Registration Technician with potential to transition into laboratory roles, this contract-to-hire opportunity is a great way to get your foot in the door! Location: Fresno, CA. Schedule: Full time, Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm. Salary: $18.00/hr. In this role, you will ensure meticulous sample registration and uphold quality control standards while supporting laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming sample deliveries and verify their accuracy against accompanying documentation, including client information, sample type, and testing parameters.
  • Check sample integrity for proper labeling, condition, and temperature.
  • Identify and report any discrepancies or issues with samples to the supervisor.
  • Accurately input sample details into the laboratory information management system (LIMS) and assign appropriate testing parameters based on client requirements.
  • Ensure accurate data entry and maintain data integrity.
  • Sort and arrange samples according to testing priorities and stability requirements.
  • Properly label and store samples in designated areas according to laboratory procedures.
  • Manage sample retention and disposal processes as per regulations.
  • Adhere to established quality control procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Monitor and report any quality issues or deviations to the supervisor.
  • Participate in internal quality audits and training programs.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, laboratory technicians, and other departments to resolve sample registration queries.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely sample processing and reporting.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Basic computer proficiency with experience in laboratory information management systems (LIMS) preferred.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of laboratory safety procedures and compliance regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with invoicing and assembling samples.
  • Typing skills.
  • Interest in laboratory work, accessioning technician roles, or sample preparation.
