Central Office Telecom Installer - Level 3 or 4

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Submit time and expense reports and project documentation accurately and on schedule.
• Review and adhere to job Methods of Procedure prior to kickoff meetings.
• Ensure all job materials, tools, and equipment are onsite before commencing work.
• Train and lead lower-level technicians on installation, documentation, and safety standards.
• Safely operate company-owned and rented vehicles and trailers.
• Oversee site clean-up by removing debris and ensuring orderly job sites.
• Install or remove components on live networks including ironwork, ladder racks, fiber raceways, and cabinets.
• Manage cable installations for both power and signal, as well as fiber installation tasks such as running patch cords and FDP terminations.
• Perform -48DC power work on live systems including installing breakers, terminating cables, grounding, and labeling of equipment.
• Execute battery plant, rectifier installations/removals, site surveys, in-process and final quality inspections, and on-site audits.
• Assist in fiber optic characterization, test/turn-up functions, commissioning, and provisioning of network components.
• Maintain a professional attitude, punctuality, and high quality workmanship while fostering positive working relationships.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• For Level 3: Experience as an L2 Field Technician for at least six months over a minimum of 24 job sites; for Level 4: Experience as an L3 Field Technician (lead in power and installations) for a minimum of 12 months.
• Proficiency in installing, configuring, and commissioning telecommunications equipment across multiple vendors and in specialized environments such as CO or Data centers.
• Valid Driver’s License, satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report, and the ability to safely drive and operate company vehicles and trailers.
• Ability to manage physical demands (lifting up to 80 pounds, climbing ladders, repetitive bending/twisting) and to travel 100% within the U.S.
• Strong documentation, time management, and teamwork skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio).

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of Commissioning & Provisioning experience (preferred for Level 4).
• Experience in large scale network buildouts and lead telecom installations.
• Familiarity with reading Engineering Design Packages (EDP) and technical drawings (Visio).
