Position Overview

About Sony Music Entertainment – we fuel the creative journey and have played a pioneering role in music history. As Sr. Director, Fan Engagement, you will work with the VP, Digital Marketing to drive and evolve the company’s integrated digital strategy with a focus on fan engagement. Your mission is to develop innovative fan initiatives company-wide, create and implement digital marketing and revenue-generating campaigns for Sony’s country music artists, and build long-term strategies that align with our business and artists’ goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report on trends and new areas of engagement via digital partnerships; evaluate and determine agencies/platforms to increase fan engagement.
  • Build a long-term and evolving fan engagement strategy to align with planning and spend.
  • Support the full roster and digital leads with larger fan engagement opportunities.
  • Create, develop, and execute innovative digital marketing campaigns across the web and social media for the assigned artist roster.
  • Grow and engage social network communities (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube Community), and track and analyze social media data.
  • Implement new technologies and marketing tactics to maximize music streaming and consumption.
  • Develop websites, content (video, audio, graphic, text), and posting strategies for web, social, and mobile.
  • Evaluate new technology partners (e.g. TikTok, Genius, BandsInTown), identify consumer trends, and develop new models of digital fan engagement.
  • Drive CRM strategy label-wide, including managing newsletters and using consumer data segmentation to optimize digital initiatives.
  • Conceptualize contests and sweeps, including online form setup and rule drafting in collaboration with the legal department.
  • Strategize, execute, and manage lifestyle partnerships and influencer marketing campaigns.
  • Collaborate with internal label teams, artists, and management to communicate new products, technologies, and digital opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing with a proven record of developing innovative campaigns, preferably in the creative industries (music, television, entertainment, etc.).
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills across internal and external parties.
  • Ability to connect people, ideas, and opportunities with credibility, trust, and agile decision-making.
  • Data-savvy with extensive experience managing social media platforms, building communities, and leveraging mobile marketing technologies (SMS, surveys, etc.).
  • Proficient in CRM/email newsletter platforms (e.g. Salesforce, MailChimp).
  • Broad understanding of e-commerce, direct-to-consumer models, music streaming, and digital content creation with strong graphic design skills (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro).
  • Innovative and analytical mindset to interpret data, predict trends, and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive artist information.
  • Experienced in collaborative work environments as well as in leading, influencing, and delegating under pressure.
  • A passion for digital innovation and the ability to apply relevant technology and trends to music marketing.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including nights and weekends.
