Position Overview

Senior Cybersecurity Threat Analyst – SAN ANTONIO at USAA. Compensation: $127,310 - 243,340 per year. At USAA we are looking for a Security Engineer to drive and support our Cyber Threat Operation Center (CTOC) mission. In this role, you’ll work on modern cloud engineering, DevSecOps practices, and threat intelligence initiatives while collaborating across departments to ensure robust security strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that security requirements are fully addressed in all phases of solution/application enablement and sustainment.
  • Design, develop, code, integrate, and test complex cross-functional security solutions while collaborating with engineers and architects from other teams.
  • Lead code and design reviews and promote engineering efficiencies for effective operations and planning.
  • Assist in resolving complex production issues and troubleshoot end-to-end solutions involving multiple systems and applications.
  • Collaborate with architecture teams to define key technology directions within the security domain.
  • Engage in community impact by participating in conferences, training, blog posts, and professional societies.
  • Utilize Site Reliability Engineering practices to support domain operations.
  • Identify, measure, monitor, and control risks in line with risk and compliance policies.
  • Support cross-functional efforts as a subject matter expert in cybersecurity.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot intricate systems, tools, and vendor integrations.
  • Conduct continuous research, analysis, and troubleshooting to resolve complex security issues.
  • Collaborate with Security Analysts, IT, and Business Partners to harden and enhance security solutions.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers while promoting continuous learning and professional growth.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree; or 4 years of relevant experience may be substituted.
  • 6 years of related experience in Security Engineering and/or Information Technology with a security focus, including leading enterprise technology projects.
  • 4 years of experience in delivering technology solutions through all stages of the development lifecycle.
  • Proven experience in guiding security strategies, solutions, and initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of modern programming/scripting languages and frameworks.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and leading security engineering activities using modern DevSecOps practices.
  • Demonstrated success in agile delivery methods.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex production issues effectively.
  • Experience with platform engineering concepts including infrastructure/policy as code, security architecture design patterns, security vendor integrations, and CI/CD pipelines with built-in application security controls.
  • Familiarity with event-driven security architecture, methods, and controls.
  • Experience advising on security architecture and controls to meet security, compliance, and audit requirements.
  • Familiarity with cloud and emerging technologies such as Public Cloud, Containerization, Security Data Lakes, Machine Learning/Language Models, and Generative AI.
