Position Overview

Alterra Mountain Company is a family of iconic year-round mountain destinations, the world's largest heli-skiing operation, and home to the premier Ikon Pass. We are seeking a dynamic HR professional to join our team as a Director, HRBP. In this role, you will serve as a strategic liaison between HR and the business, advising leadership and managing change while driving impactful HR strategies to support a high-performance culture.

Location: Denver, Colorado

Salary: $127,000 - $184,000 per year

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify pressing talent opportunities and challenges for client groups and incorporate workforce implications into the business plan.
  • Manage a team consisting of a Sr. HR Generalist and HR Coordinator.
  • Execute both existing and new HR solutions and capabilities.
  • Partner on hiring, onboarding, and talent pipeline development in collaboration with hiring managers and Talent Acquisition.
  • Monitor external market trends and advise on their potential impact on internal employees.
  • Oversee Employee Relations by providing guidance, interpreting policy, and resolving issues.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and execute HR strategies for successful organizational change.
  • Guide employees through periods of change by ensuring clear communication and leadership alignment.
  • Ensure smooth onboarding for new hires and effective offboarding for departing employees.
  • Develop and implement retention strategies to maintain key talent through competitive compensation and growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Compensation team to evaluate and recommend competitive pay structures, including base salary, bonuses, and incentives.
  • Identify and develop high-potential employees to prepare future leaders within the organization.
  • Work closely with managers to implement performance management systems, ensuring regular evaluation and feedback.
  • Maintain open communication channels to build trust and keep employees informed.
  • Act as a steward of HR policies and procedures by gathering feedback, conducting audits, and continuously monitoring HR practices.
  • Provide strategic advisory to leadership through coaching and support during organizational change.
  • Foster collaboration and networking across the HR function and within the broader organization.
  • Challenge assumptions, educate business leaders on talent implications, and propose alternative solutions when necessary.
  • Reprioritize actions to address immediate ad-hoc topics or assignments as they arise.

Required Qualifications

  • Professional and lived experience engaging diverse audiences and underrepresented communities in a culturally competent manner.
  • 8 or more years of progressive HR experience with geographically distributed employee populations.
  • 3 or more years of experience supporting commercial functions such as sales, marketing, or business development.
  • Deep knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and organizational behavior.
  • Proven expertise in facilitating workforce planning processes and talent management activities such as talent reviews and succession planning.
  • Strong ability to influence, build relationships, and communicate at all organizational levels.
  • Proven track record in managing complex employee relations issues and driving transformative change.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or an equivalent HR certification.
  • Experience in the Finance or Insurance industry.
  • Familiarity with Workday.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, etc.).
