Job Description

Position Overview

At Qualcomm Incorporated, within the Facilities & Security Group (Data Center Facilities), this technician plays a critical role in ensuring Mission Critical data centers and their surrounding infrastructure meet or exceed company standards. Working alongside higher level technicians and engineers, you will perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and project support while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. You will also participate in an on–call rotation to provide emergency response when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work side by side with higher level technicians and engineers on assigned projects related to preventive maintenance, repairs, or improvements.
  • Support the maintenance of electrical and mechanical infrastructure per manufacturers’ recommendations.
  • Read and understand electrical drawings/schematics and mechanical drawings/P&ID.
  • Perform rounds throughout the Data Center and property to ensure site integrity.
  • Execute customer installation activities, including rack layouts, electrical circuits, and HVAC tasks.
  • Provide oversight to contractors and service providers.
  • Conduct daily inspections of Data Center and IT room infrastructure, both on site and via monitoring programs.
  • Ensure Computerized Maintenance Management System data accuracy.
  • Monitor building management systems and other automated tools to maintain operational efficiencies.
  • Participate in the on–call rotation to provide emergency response as needed.
  • Execute assigned tasks as part of a project team.
  • Respond to work requests promptly while delivering a high level of support.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety procedures during work activities.
  • Participate in Change Management processes including risk assessment and procedural reviews.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Journeyman level Electrician.
  • Basic knowledge of computer programs including email, documents, and spreadsheets.
  • Valid and current CA driver’s license.
  • At least 3 years of Data Center Facilities or related work experience.
