Entry Level Structural Engineer

Position Overview

Assist in providing structural engineering calculations and drawings for the current project types as described in the firm summary. The employee will support the technical delivery of structural engineering documents while collaborating closely with other disciplines. Additionally, the employee will work with local building jurisdictions to obtain building permits. Oversight and mentoring by management is provided with the goal of advancing the employee into a future management role overseeing entry-level engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake detailed engineering design for gravity and lateral systems of building structures from all material types.
• Communicate directly with clients and building officials.
• Assist in preparing design development and construction documents.
• Create and interpret data from 3D structural analysis models using commercial software as listed in the qualifications.
• Keep senior staff informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and ensure client objectives are achieved.
• Assist in progressing standards and technical knowledge within the office.
• Be willing to travel up to 15% to support Kurt Fischer Structural Engineering’s projects.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Structural or Civil Engineering; Master’s degree is a plus.
• Ability to effectively work in a team-based organization.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, and decision-making skills for executing assignments.
• Experience with BIM tools such as REVIT Structural.

Preferred Qualifications

• EIT license preferred.
• Familiarity with computer programs such as RISA 3D, Microsoft Excel, SAFE, ETABS, Bluebeam, Ram Structural Systems, and Enercalc.

Compensation

• Salary will be based on experience and education.
