Position Overview
This role at Tampa General Hospital is responsible for providing education and support to patients and their families, acting as a liaison with physicians, healthcare personnel, hospital administration, agencies, and community groups throughout the patient's hospital stay or service. The candidate will guide patients and families through the health care decision-making process—including admissions, diagnostics, surgical/medical interventions, discharge, and support services—and serve as the point of contact, clinical leader, and resource to staff and administration. Additionally, the role involves ensuring patients and their families receive the needed information for a smooth transition from active treatment to managing their condition independently, with care that may involve both inpatient and outpatient services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide education to patients and families.
- Act as a liaison with patients, physicians, family members, other healthcare personnel, hospital administration, agencies, and community groups.
- Support and guide patients and families in the health care decision-making process.
- Serve as the point of contact, clinical leader, and resource to staff and administration.
- Provide essential information for the transition from active treatment to independent management of the condition.
- Coordinate inpatient and outpatient services based on patient care needs.
- Perform job duties in alignment with Tampa General Hospital’s mission, vision, and values.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelors in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing
- Requirements: Licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse by the State of Florida
- Experience Required: 5 Years Managing the Care of Diabetic Patients
