Position Overview
Immerse is a virtual reality language learning platform that helps adults build real fluency through live instruction and AI-powered practice. We partner with schools, companies, and individual learners worldwide to make language learning immersive, interactive, and human. We’re hiring part-time English language instructors to teach communicative, task-based lessons for adult learners in VR or on PC. In this structured teaching role, you will utilize strong pedagogy, classroom management skills, and tech comfort to guide learners in realistic settings such as meeting rooms, airports, cafés, and doctor’s offices.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach communicative, task-based English lessons via VR and PC platforms.
- Conduct small-group sessions that simulate real-world contexts such as meeting rooms, airports, cafés, and doctor’s offices.
- Follow structured teaching frameworks and adhere to established processes.
- Collaborate with fellow educators to ensure engaging and effective instruction.
Required Qualifications
- Education: BA in TESOL or a closely related field; if not TESOL-related, a minimum of a 120-hour TESOL certificate with extensive ESL teaching experience is required.
- 2+ years of structured ESL/EFL teaching experience.
- Previous experience teaching adult learners and managing group classes (8+ students).
- Strong foundation in communicative and task-based teaching methods.
- Tech-comfortable with a willingness to learn new tools.
- C1 English proficiency (CEFR) or Advanced High (ACTFL) equivalent.
- Organized, reliable, and proactive in communication.
- Must meet tech requirements: Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) PC (no Macs/tablets), Intel i5-1135G7/AMD Ryzen 5 5500U or better, Intel Iris Xe/AMD Vega 7 or better graphics, 8GB RAM, 10GB free storage, Ethernet connection, and a wired headset with a built-in microphone.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching business or professional English learners.
- Bonus: High-level proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese and/or experience teaching these languages.
Benefits & Perks
- Compensation: Region- and experience-based; rates often within $18–$25 USD/hour, including paid prep, training, and meetings.
- Location: Preference for instructors based in North or South America. Note: Residents of California, Oregon, Massachusetts, Kentucky, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, or Washington are ineligible at this time, though applicants outside the Americas may apply if they can reliably teach during high-need hours.
- Schedule: High availability required. Highest Current Need: Fri–Sat • 12:00 AM–8:00 AM ET and Sun 4:00–8:00 AM ET (06:00–14:00 CET / 14:00–22:00 JST or 10:00–14:00 CET / 18:00–22:00 JST). Additional Need: Mon–Thurs • 12:00 AM–8:00 AM ET (06:00–14:00 CET / 14:00–22:00 JST).
