Position Overview

The University of Virginia invites a forward-thinking professional to join its HR Business Partner (HRBP) team to support the academic division. In this role, you will provide consultative HR guidance by leveraging deep expertise in human resources strategies, practices, and policies while understanding financial landscapes, organizational culture, employee engagement, and academic mission. This full-time, exempt-level, benefited position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, requiring candidates to reside within commuting distance of Charlottesville.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a mission-driven HR professional that represents, orchestrates, and manages HR experience and services for assigned stakeholders.
  • Combine deep HR expertise with strategic engagement with university leaders to offer creative problem solving and advisory support aligned with institutional priorities.
  • Act as a people-focused partner, collaborating with schools and units to support daily operations while enhancing HR service delivery.
  • Use innovative practices to challenge the status quo, encourage creative thinking, and foster collaboration across the institution.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience Required: Five years of relevant progressive experience for the HR Business Partner position.
  • Experience Required: Eight years of relevant progressive experience for the Senior HR Business Partner position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Qualifications: SHRM/HRCI certification is preferred.
