Job Description

Position Overview

Gecko Robotics is dedicated to ensuring the availability, reliability, and sustainability of critical infrastructure through complete and connected solutions. As a Facilities Specialist, you will ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of our facility systems – including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building safety equipment – by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting issues, managing vendors, and coordinating projects to support a safe and efficient working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preventive Maintenance: Develop and execute maintenance schedules to ensure systems run efficiently and avoid breakdowns.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to facility systems and equipment.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations; work with EHS to address potential hazards and comply with state and federal laws.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and safety inspections in Jira.
  • Project Coordination & Collaboration: Coordinate with external contractors/vendors for specialized repairs or major projects and support internal departments with facility-related needs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Propose and implement improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to facility emergencies outside of regular working hours as needed.
  • Additional Tasks: Act as the on-site point-of-contact for local janitorial, pest control, and maintenance vendors; perform daily facility walkthroughs; assist with event setups and employee requests; manage package distribution; and update the Facilities Manager on any issues.
  • Travel: Travel as required to support facility operations.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; additional technical training/certification in facilities maintenance or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Facilities Specialist or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building safety systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Physical ability to perform manual tasks and lift up to 50 lbs from the floor to chest height.
